If there was something happening at 8, people would tell me
it was starting at 7:45 just so I would be there at 8. That’s how predictable I
became. I was late for EVERYTHING,
including my own graduation party. It was always so embarrassing walking into a
quiet, crowded room 5 minutes late. Everyone
always started at me and there was rarely a seat for me. I never understood how that always happened. I have tried so many times before to be, at
least, on time to an event. I hate being late, so I have decided to
change.
I have come up with a
new before class routine for myself and I have been following it all week. I've
been picking out my outfit the night before, waking up at 6:15, getting
showered and dressed right away and making sure all last minute home work was
done. I have been trying to get all that done within an hour, but for now I've
been giving myself an hour and a half, or two hours depending on the day, to do
it all.
I have also been giving myself an excessive amount of time
to walk to my classes. You can, surprisingly, get a lot done on a leisurely
walk to class. I've been able to catch up with friends and family, get informed
on what is happening in the academic quad and take in the sights and
surroundings. I highly recommend it! It’s relaxing and a great chance to plan
what you have to do that day.
This new routine, and my
determination to be on time, has been working! I haven't been late to class, or
anything for that matter, all week! I plan to continue with this method.
Hopefully, I will become predictably early instead of late. Wish me luck!!
