5I: It’s never too soon to prepare!

Did you know that midterms are only 4 weeks away?  I was very startled when I realized this.  In an effort to begin preparing, I went to the “Preparing for & Taking Mid-term Tests!” workshop.  This was held at the Student Center on Monday from 5:30-6:20.
The professor that lead this workshop is a History and Inquiry Professor here at Southern.  He was very enthusiastic about this topic.  He talked about three different types of tests; true or false, multiple choice, and essay.  True and false exams test for facts, multiple choice exams test for knowledge and understanding and essay exams test for applying knowledge and understanding.  He kept stressing the importance of the use of outlines.  Apparently, writing outlines on each topic from class is a great way to organize your notes and they make great study guides. He also gave a lot of other helpful studying tips.

The tutor center sets up a lot of different types of workshops for different types of learning needs.  They leave the brochures outside of their office on the bottom floor of the Engelman building.  This workshop was also really helpful and I imagine the others will be too.
